Creating an Outdoor Dining Area at Marston Vale Middle School

As part of an external works project for the Chiltern Learning Trust over three schools in Bedfordshire, the brief for Marston Vale Middle School involved the construction of a covered outdoor dining area with landscape area upgrades and external furniture. Project works were specified by AMR Consult on behalf of the trust. The project at  Marston Vale Middle School includes a TRITON canopy, outdoor furniture and an impressive 440m2 of artificial grass.

The Streetspace project delivery model for the Marston Vale Middle School ensured that all aspects of the outdoor dining project from the detailed design and approval process, demolition of existing structures, excavations of foundations, drainage and subbase, canopy manufacture and fitting, installation of synthetic grass surfacing to the supply of external furniture were procured from a single-source with the same project management from start to finish.

This approach provides clear benefits to the school by reducing the burden of project management between separate contractors and helping to ensure a coordinated programme of works to deliver the project on time.
