Streetspace supplied six canopy structures as part of Darwin Group’s project to construct a new teaching and dining block at St Clere’s School: three TRITON monopitch canopies to protect doors into the dining hall, and three ORION Star tensile membrane canopies to provide covered outdoor dining space.

The ORION Star structures are ideal for creating covered space in playground environments, with each structure providing 64m2 supported by a single central post. The tensile membranes have a classic hyperbolic paraboloid form, which creates an eye catching design feature. Tensile membrane fabrics are available in a choice of colours, helping accentuate these structures.

The TRITON Monopitch canopies have a cantilever design, so there are no columns against the building, maximising space and minimising visual obstructions. Streetspace provided detailed foundation designs for the main contractor, and manufactured all parts ready for installation in very limited windows of time prior to surfacing works, to enable external areas to be handed over to the client in accordance with the agreed schedule of works.
