Main contractor Carillion selected Streetspace’s CENTAUR CLS double row cycle shelters and CENTAUR ST cycle stands to provide 160no secure covered cycle spaces on the replacement premises for New Rickstones Academy in Witham, Essex.

With any educational establishment, the provision of good quality cycle storage is very important in ensuring there are no barriers to staff and students cycling to school. A facility which keeps their bicycles secure and dry can give users the extra boost of confidence they need to start using the bicycle as their regular means of commute. A convenient location is also beneficial, in this case close to the school’s main entrance.

At New Rickstones Academy, the wide free spaces of the CENTAUR CLS shelter help to minimise obstructions to the storage area. The foundations for the cycle shelters and racks were cast by the main contractor prior to final surfacing, then covered by the tarmac wearing course for a neat finish. CENTAUR ST cycle stands are an option which are familiar to every cyclist, eliminate any need to lift the bicycle, and allow for double locking.
